Jonathan B. Phelps began to work for Phelps-Chartered in 1977. He earned his B.A. in History in 1980 from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. In 1982, he received his Juris Doctor from the Washburn University School of Law. Jonathan is currently licensed to practice before all Kansas Courts, State and Federal, the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, the tribal court of the Prairie Band Pottawatomi Nation, Pottawatomi Reservation, and the Kickapoo Tribal Court, Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas.

Jonathan is a member of the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a founding member and acting Secretary of the Third Judicial District Criminal Defense Bar Association. He specializes in criminal defense (federal, state, and city), civil and constitutional rights, personal injury, employment law, domestic relations, Indian law, and trial and appellate litigation.
